Rati Golijashvili

Rati Golijashvili is the General Manager of BioChimPharm, a leading biopharmaceutical company based in Georgia that focuses on research, innovation and production of phage pharmaceutical products (only viable solution to antibiotic resistant infections nowadays).

Growing up in Tbilisi, Georgia, in the family of microbiologists and pharmacists, Rati developed a lifelong mission to combat the global crisis of antimicrobial resistance. He dedicated his career to researching, innovating and making phage medications available globally to patients suffering from antibiotic resistant infections.

As a second-generation phage technology enthusiast, Rati leads the family business at BioChimPharm, which is based on the oldest phage factory in the world, established in 1934. He is the initiator and the Chairman at Georgian Biopharmaceutical Cluster and a Board Member at Georgian Pharmaceutical Association.

Education

Rati holds a Master’s degree in Public Health Policy and Management from Ilia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Georgian American University. His work in the field of biotechnology and bacteriophage has made a significant contribution to the fight against antibiotic resistance, and his efforts earned him a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list (2019) in science himself. Now as a jury member for the same list, Rati continues to recognize and support the achievements of young scientists who are making an impact in their respective fields.
